Working Parents Struggle as New York City Fails to Provide Extended Daycare

In New York City, 375,000 parents, mostly women, have quit or downshifted their jobs because of the lack of quality childcare. This package — written/shot/edited/produced for Columbia’s Video Newsroom — follows two mothers who have experienced the struggle of finding care for their children under five as extended-day slots are limited. Advocates are pushing for the city to open more extended-day slots, or at the very least repurpose 3K school day slots into extended-day.
